James Dobson (b. 1988) is an artist based in the UK. His work concerns history, temporality and ecology in relation to land. Working primarily in the south of England, he uses photography as a means of giving form to the enigmatic, inscrutable and often invisible forces that shape the ways in which we perceive landscape and place. His practice is underpinned by an interest in landscape archaeology, the tensions between nature and culture and an acute awareness of ongoing ecological decline, exploring the complex spaces in which these threads intersect.
